Takeley Cricket Club Saturday Second XI v Nazeing Common II on Sat 14 May 2011 at 1:30 pm
Takeley Cricket Club Lost By 17 Runs in 44th Over

Match report A close game saw the 2nd XI fall 17 runs short of their target of 230.

Electing to bowl, Takeley kept the run rate to respectable levels for the first 25 overs, but with few wickets taken Nazeing were able to open up for a 100+ 4th wicket stand. A wicket each for Mat and Tom and two run outs, courtesy of Tom and Ashley were the only rewards for some hard toil.

Losing early wickets made the prospect of a Takeley win unlikely, until a stand of 83 between Tom and Dave Gunn (30) helped get things moving - followed by a cheeky little of knock of 21 by Big Malc. Tom in the meantime was moving towards a classy ton with some tremendous drives for both fours and sixes.

With 19 required in the last 3 overs and 9 wickets down, we were just unable to hang on for the win. But Tom's superb 120 (12x4s, 5x6) had led us very close in a very well spirited game.
