Match report A fine effort saw a 10 man "Two's" grab a precious away point at Ilford, through two late strikes by leading Takeley, er... striker and local Irishman, O'Gunn. Both strikes carried strong suspicions of handball by Harrington (D) and Wright (R) - but both judged to be completely accidental and the decisions stood. Having had the poorer part of a dull first half, Takeley's defence crumbled as the talented Ilford attack hit the woodwork with alarming regularity, with Takeley's only form of attack being the "route one", aerial approach, which was easily dealt with by the Ilford back four and keeper. ("We play on the floor, we play on the fl-o-o-r.... We're Takeley Tigers, we play on the floor" - as they sing near Ilford way).

After the break, Takeley tried a far more expansive approach, playing with wingers who, by using the full width of the Barkingside facilities, brought a lot more people into the game - on the pitch next door and the swings by the car park. It paid off, and when a little used mid-field formation caused disarray amongst the Ilford front two, O'Gunn struck to take a hard fought point all the way back down the Barkingside High Road..... right at the Gant's Hill roundabout, along the A12 for a couple miles, north on the A406 (North Circular) keeping left onto the Mll for about 20 miles, then on to the old A120 for 2 miles and left into the Soash. Could be the point that keeps us up!
