Match report Good start the season for Takeley seconds with a win. Takeley batted first and had a steady start to the game with Jay Maisey having his debut in opening the batting. Jay was picking out the bad balls well and hitting them through the covers for four. Takeley then lost a couple of quick wickets which brought the skipper and Amrit into bat who had a good partnership going until Amrit gets bowled straight after the drinks break. Rob Harrington comes in at 6 and starts his innings like normal with a boundary and continued to do so throughout his innings and combined well with the skipper to score a quick 89 partnership until the captain gets out on 118. Rob then follows the captain to the pavilion shortly after 6 runs short of his century. The lower order batsmen scored quick runs between them to get us to a brilliant total of 319.

It was always going to be a difficult run chase for the visitors and the opening bowlers didn't make it easy for them with some tight bowling between Ash Salmon and Callum. This allowed us to rotate the bowlers and on the whole they all bowled well especially Carl Mitchell what bowled some good line and length bowling. Jay Maisey was gifted the last over of the game as we were just about safe enough for him to not lose the game for us, when the batsmen smacks him for 6 of his first ball. The Batsmen then realised it was his birthday so couple of balls later gifted his wicket to Jay.
