Takeley Cricket Club Saturday Second XI v Wormley I on Sat 10 Jun 2017 at 1.30pm
Takeley Cricket Club Won by 110 runs
Match report
Injuries to skipper and vice skipper meant that the skipper had to decide who should take control of the game. He decided to go with Harry Wright due to his confidence and banter on the field (banter isn't as good as his skippers though ;) ). Takeley knew this was going to be a hard game due to playing wormley last year they knew they are a very strong team, but this did not stop Takeleys motivation as they wanted to push to make it 6 out of 6.
Harry won the toss and decided to bat first. They got off to a steady start until Dave Gunn lost his wicket. This then brought the stand in skipper to the crease and for him and Maisey to carry on their great form. They went on to score another massive partnership before the skipper lost his wicket on 64. Maisey went on to get his first century for Takeley and it was a well deserved moment for him. We batted mate!!! He then shortly after lost his wicket on 109. Rob Harrington went in and scored a quick fire 40 and the other batsmen all chipped in to get Takeley to 283.
Takeley knew they had a good score to defend but had to bowl well and that is exactly what Trev (Takeleys only bowler as one of the wormley players called him) did and bowled a great spell taking 3 wickets. Tom Nash came into bowl after and carried on the form from the Aklowa end by taking 2 wickets with a unplayable yorker delivery bowling one of the wormley batsmen. Ash Salmon came in at the end and bowled one of his best spells of the season taking 3 wickets. With some brilliant fielding and getting a couple of run outs within the wickets, Takeley managed to bowl out Wormley for 173 and were by far the best team on the pitch.
This was definitely a shock to the opposition as they were arguing between themselves, which brought entertainment to the winning team
Superb win again lads!!! Thats 6 out of 6!!! same again next week
