Match report Takeley 2nd XI got their season off to a strong start with an impressive run chase against Bishop's Stortford IV's.

After being put into the field having lost the toss, the 2's needed to bowl well to have a chance of a positive result. It was a lively opening spell with the ball, led brilliantly by Charlie, who delivered a superb performance by hitting middle stump out of the ground on four separate occasions. The skipper also chipped in, taking a nonchalant one-handed caught-and-bowled. Despite the early breakthroughs, Stortford managed to rebuild their innings, but the pressure was maintained. Luca struck at a crucial moment to remove the set batter, before Vishal and Charlie combined effectively to clean up the tail.

Chasing 230, the 2's reply got off to the perfect start thanks to Pulkit and Veer, who put together a solid opening partnership of 50. The strong foundation allowed the middle order to build momentum, with Mannish leading the way with a superb unbeaten 37. Consistency throughout the innings proved vital, as all of the top six contributed scores of 20 or more.
The target was chased down comfortably with 9 balls to spare, rounding off an excellent all-round team performance.

The 2'swill look to carry this momentum into next week’s fixture against High Roding 3s, aiming to secure back-to-back victories. A great effort from everyone involved.
