Match report Nathan & Tom were the heroes as the Tigers fought back from the brink of a heavy defeat to record a 35 run victory against Hockerill.

Takeley batted first having won the toss & looked set to post an imposing total with Thakester getting a quickfire 79 with Tom, Grimshaw, Pinhead & Conno chipping in. The Tigers showed they still have a middle order collapse in their locker though & were soon reduced to 180-8. Ozdog & Manning then compiled a mature & well crafted 9th wicket partnership of 49 to help us reach a total of 235 all out.

After a sublime Bridget tea the Tigers understandably started somewhat slowly in the field & allowed Hockerill to get off to a flier as they got to 80 in less than 10 overs. Wayzer got the crucial breakthrough, but it was Nathan who turned the game with an excellent 10 over spell taking 3 crucial wickets, including the opening bat who was taking the game away from us.

The game was still very much in the balance when Nathan had finished his 10, so it was down to Herts & Essex Observer favourite & Takeley pin-up Tom Brown to take up the fast bowling baton. Bowling for the first time for the 1st XI, TB bowled with good pace & control & finished with extraordinary figures of 6-2-8-4 to secure a 35 run victory.
